PHOTOGRAPHER MEMORY KEEPER

CELEBRATING ART THAT HOLDS MEANING
Photographs that matter. Stories that linger.

HEY, I’M LAURENCE

Photographer & Memory keeper based in Adelaide.

Photography is more than just art. It’s a memory in motion – an emotional artifact of your love and life, forever frozen in time. It holds a quiet power that grips you in the chest, reminding you of what you once felt and never want to forget. The best kind of goosebumps. The type of image that sends you drifting into a wistful daydream. A secret key to the past – a place only you know. Just like life, photography can be messy and unpredictable. But it’s also raw and honest. A fleeting glimpse into your soul, the people you’ve loved, and the life you’ve lived. A blink in time. Emotions, felt in full. Moments pass. People change. And once the last toast is raised and the final drop of wine is savoured, sometimes a photograph is all you have left.

And that one photo? It can mean everything.

That’s why it matters so deeply to be trusted with your memories.

That’s why I do what I do.

ONCE A TRADIE, NOW A QUIET OBSERVER

The truth is, photography wasn’t a childhood dream. I was a tradie in a past life, working FIFO on a remote island off Western Australia. Somewhere between the red dirt and long shifts, I picked up a camera, and something shifted. Photography grabbed hold of me and didn’t let go. Stockholm syndrome, but the welcome kind. Never one to do things by halves, I began studying photography part-time, learning everything I could while still living in high-vis and steel caps. Eventually, I took the leap 0 trading in my toolkit for a lens (and becoming a FIFO wedding photographer instead, haha!).

Now, more than a decade later, this isn’t just a job. It’s how I see and experience the world – and I wouldn’t change a thing.

The REAL Motivator(s)

I’m a dad to two beautiful kids: Ivy and Huxley.

My nine-year-old daughter, Ivy, is a dancing whirlwind of glitter, tap shoes, and boundless energy. She’ll move to anything with a beat, which makes long car rides a very lively experience. Then there’s Huxley, my cheeky little guy, born in the thick of COVID. He arrived early with a rare genetic disorder, and we were told he had a 50% chance of survival. But he made it. He’s non-verbal, so he can’t tell me he loves me – but he shows me, in a thousand quiet, beautiful ways. Being their dad has changed everything. It’s taught me to slow down, savour the everyday, and celebrate the small stuff. It’s also why I feel so compelled to document it all – just in case.

SWEET TOOTh, SWEETER FACTS

Because we’re here for the real stuff, right?

Unapologetically snobby about my lattes—full cream only, thanks.

SLOWING DOWN

Long walks around lakes, slow hikes up mountains, and breathing in the air just before it rains. If lost, you’ll (hopefully) find me adventuring through the Flinders Ranges, Great Ocean Road, Queenstown, the Dolomites, or Yosemite National Park. Landscape photography is my personal reset button

FILM PHOTOGRAPHY IS MY THING

I’m a Large format film shooter – yep, the old-school kind, hood over the head and all And you an often find me in my darkroom, developing film. Nothing beats holding a print you developed with your own hands.
